About Us

The Association of Specialty Coffee Producers of Marmato (APROCAESMAR) was created on March 6, 2024, is located in the municipality of Marmato (Caldas) and was generated as part of a plan to strengthen the business management. The association is made up of 28 members on whom approximately 63 people who make up their family units depend.

Mission

Our mission as a peasant association is to empower local coffee growers by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, equitable access to resources and technology, promoting environmental protection with the aim of improving the quality of life of members and their families, economic prosperity and sustainable rural development.

These objectives can be achieved by working in collaboration and mutual support with our members, facilitating knowledge exchange, training and cooperation between farmers; Likewise, establishing alliances and cooperation strategies with related organizations, local, departmental and national government institutions, NGOs and private companies that support the projects from an economic and technical point of view to achieve a positive and lasting change in the coffee sector of the municipality of Marmato.

Vision

In the association we intend to redefine agricultural production within the municipality, especially that related to the cultivation of coffee and the different cultural facets around this product; In addition, generate alternative sources of production and sustenance for rural communities in a territory with a historical vocation towards mining.

We are convinced that, by strengthening the relationship between the farmer and the planet within environmental harmony, they will become custodians of biodiversity and direct agents in the adaptation of ecosystems and society to the effects of climate change; By dignifying the work of the coffee grower, criteria of social justice and equity are established as fundamental pillars of human and sustainable development.

In the medium and long term, the implementation of agricultural techniques will be sought that allow the production of “Special Coffees” within the associates’ farms, as well as the subsequent transformation into a processing and production plant for said raw material, and the generation of Marketing channels for processed coffee within a local, national and international market will improve the quality of life of associates and their family groups.

Likewise, the creation of the “Basic Cupping and Barista School” for students from rural schools is presented as an alternative for vocational and technical training for young people from the villages of the municipality beyond field work and mining. .
